The Pierce County Press was begun in 1980. The newspaper became the official legal organ of Pierce County first in 1988 and has been designated over the years on an alternated basis as the official county legal organ. The Pierce County Press currently is the official legal organ of the city of Blackshear. The firm is owned and operated by Mittie Vaughan, d/b/a Press Publishing Company as a sole proprietorship . Office manager is Hannah C. Durrance, who also serves as the newspaper's graphic artist and head of the mailing staff.
