To all qualified voters in Brantley County:

Notice is hereby given that on November 2, 2010, a nonpartisan election will be held to elect 1 supervisor(s) from Brantley County in the Satilla River Soil and Water Conservation District.  District Supervisors serve as unpaid state officials who represent their counties in support of soil and water conservation activities.

 July 2, 2010, is the last day on which nominations for candidates for the election will be accepted.  The signatures of at least 25 qualified electors of the county are required to nominate a candidate.  Candidates must also be qualified electors of the county.  Nominating petitions must be received in the office of the Brantley County Election Superintendent at 117 Brantley Street or P O Box 326, Nahunta, GA not later than 12:00 noon on July 2, 2010.  Petitions may be obtained from the Conservation Commission at the address below, from the Commission’s website at www.gaswcc.georgia.gov, or from the Election Superintendent of Brantley County.

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 16-13-49, you are hereby notified that on the 11th day of March, 2010, the following property was seized from Jovan Nelson Goodman and Cassarria Johnson by the undersigned agency and there is a forfeiture pending against said property in Brantley County, Georgia:

One thousand, five hundred and eighty-four dollars ($1,584.00) in U.S. currency;

The conduct giving rise to said seizure was as follows:

On March 11th, 2010, Chief Inv. John Simpson of the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office and Deputies of the Ware County Sheriff’s Office arrived at 59 Dixon Court, Lot 5, Brantley County, Georgia, to serve several pending warrants on Jovan Goodman.  Officers knocked on the door several times and were told that someone would be right there.  After several minutes, Jovan Goodman and Cassarria Johnson appeared at the back door.  Goodman was placed under arrest for a pending probation warrant along with other warrants.  Deputies searched the residence and located marijuana floating in the toilet bowl.  An empty ammo box containing 2 bags of crack cocaine, a box of sandwich bags and a set of digital scales were all located in the kitchen area.  Johnson told officers the location of a firearm, which was listed as stolen property, and advised them that $1,500.00 was located in the leg cuffs and in the seams of the waist of a pair of pants.  Five $2.00 bills were located in a shirt pocket and $74.00 was located sticking out of a wallet on the bed.  Jovan Nelson Goodman and Cassarria Johnson were charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine and With the Intent to Distribute.  Goodman was also charged with Possession of Marijuana, Use of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.  Said currency was used or intended for use to facilitate a violation of O.C.G.A. '16-13-30, or proceeds derived or realized therefrom.

                All that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in Land Lot 279 of the Second Land District of Brantley County, Georgia, consisting of 1.21 acres, more or less, shown and identified as Tract Number Thirty (30) of the River Ridge Subdivision, as shown and delineated upon a certain plat of survey made by Merlin J. Tomberlin, Georgia Registered Land Surveyor No. 2477, which plat is dated March 20, 1997 and being recorded in Plat Book 18, Page 240, in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court, Brantley County, Georgia, which plat is incorporated herein and made a part hereof for a more complete and detailed description and reference thereto should be made for the metes and bounds of said property.

                Proceeds of sale will be applied to payment of said indebtedness, expenses of sale and as provided in said Deed to Secure Debt.

                The property will be sold subject to any unpaid ad valorem taxes and purchaser to pay for Deed and Georgia Documentary Tax.
